Australia Awards Fiji offers a broad range of capacity building modalities to upskill the citizens of Fiji – in the most applicable way.
Short-term focused training enables Australia Awards to provide a flexible and responsive capacity building to the emerging needs of Fiji citizens, organisations and sectors.
In 2021, Fiji introduced targeted short-term training and since then has trained over 500 civil servants and/or private sector employees in key areas of need.
The training equips individuals with knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute to their organisation’s development and priorities.
Typically, short-term training is conducted in groups of 15 to 20 participants, they can range from short 1-day workshops to longer, Australian qualified programs. Either can be facilitated in the home country and/or Australia.
Priority sectors and specific courses are identified in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Government of Fiji and private presentative bodies.
Meet Anushma Sharma, an inspiring Australia Awards alumni, who shares how her short-term study experience in Australia is helping drive change in Fiji. After completing the first ever Australia Awards Short Course in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) alongside 18 fellow civil servants from six government ministries, Anushma reflects on the power of M&E to transform good ideas into lasting impact. Under our #vuvalepartnership, 🇫🇯 and 🇦🇺 are prioritising knowledge exchange and training programs like the Australia Awards Short Courses to build practical skills in the public sector.
